Every Parkinson's disease patient in West Michigan shall have access to quality health care and support services. Since Parkinson's disease affects the entire family, caregiver support shall be a priority. Health care professionals at all levels shall be educated about the specific and unique care issues relating to Parkinson's disease. The Parkinson's Association of West Michigan has been a catalyst and partner in the establishment of a movement disorders center, and The Hausenstein Parkinson's Center at St. Mary's Mercy Medical Center, which includes medical and rehabilitation treatment for Parkinson's disease and related disorders. The Parkinson's Association of West Michigan encourages development of local research devoted to treatment of Parkinson's disease and related disorders.
